Tal como sucediera con la revolución cubana. Esto se debe principalmente a que la revolución bolivariana se gestó en momentos en que el neoliberalismo y el Consenso de Washington eran hegemónicos en América latina. Fenómenos semejantes fueron el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional en México, y el Movimiento de los Trabajadores Rurales Sin Tierra en Brasil, que a finales de la década del 80’ y principios de los 90’ generaron un nuevo espacio político que con el correr de los años se denominaría Nueva Izquierda Latinoamericana y que alcanzaría importantes triunfos electorales durante la primera década del siglo XIX. El triunfo de Chávez en las elecciones de 1999 hizo que toda la atención se centrara en el proceso bolivariano por sobre las otras experiencias mencionadas, debido a que fue el primer emergente de esta Nueva Izquierda que llegaba al poder como consecuencia directa de la crisis de los partidos políticos y con una fuerte retorica antisistema y una base ideológica que tiene al antimperialismo, el socialismo y la unidad de América Latina (Bolivarismo) como ejes centrales donde apoyarse. Esto se debe principalmente a La Revolución Bolivariana junto con El Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación (México) y El movimiento de los Trabajadores Rurales Sin Tierra (Brasil) surgieron como herramientas para oponerse al neoliberalismo reinante en América Latina y de esta manera devolverle al continente la esperanza de que otra construcción política era posible, solo había que animarse. El triunfo de Chávez en las elecciones de 1999 hizo que toda la atención se centrara en el proceso Bolivariano por sobre las otras experiencias mencionadas por el simple hecho de que estamos ante una nueva construcción política que llegó al poder para renovarles la esperanza a los venezolanos y al resto de Latinoamérica. Una construcción política atípica, ya que nace en los cuarteles y habla de socialismo en un momento en que se hablaba del Fin de La Historia y de la panacea neoliberal, un revolución que llega al poder por el camino de elecciones y se mantiene en el poder siempre por la voluntad inquebrantable del pueblo venezolano que acompaño a Chávez en 17 elecciones a lo largo de estos 13 años de gobierno ( algo así como una elección cada 9 meses, de las cuales solo fue derrotado en una por un estrecho margen). Title A name given to the resource SELECCIÓN NACIONAL DE FÚTBOL: UN PUENTE PARA UNIR LO DIVERSO (1902-1930) Description An account of the resource Según el periodista Juan José de Soiza Reilly, cuando él era cronista en la Casa de Gobierno, el Presidente Julio Argentino Roca lo invitó a acompañarlo a un viaje a Brasil, a donde también iría un equipo “nacional” de fútbol. Al momento de jugar el partido, los argentinos eran superiores y al término del primer tiempo le ganaban 3 a 0 a los brasileños. Roca fue a los vestuarios “a saludar” a los dos equipos y le pidió a Jorge Brown, el capitán argentino: “Es imprescindible que Uds. pierdan el partido. ¡Háganlo por la Patria, muchachos!” (Soiza Reilly, apud Santoro, 2007 [1971]: 59). Maximiliano Max Susán, exfutbolista de Estudiantes de Buenos Aires y la selección nacional, intendente del partido de Morón en los ’40, contó la historia de modo similar, pero con matices. Por empezar, Susán ubicó el partido en unos festejos patrióticos brasileños, a los que Roca había concurrido como enviado argentino. Susán relató que al término del primer tiempo, los argentinos ganaban 4 a 0 y le atribuyó a Roca haber sugerido: “Muchachos, hay que ser más diplomáticos. No es justo que (los brasileños) pierdan el partido. Hay que dejarlos ganar. ¡Háganlo por la paz de América, muchachos!” . Si fue por la patria o por la paz de América, lo cierto es que durante la segunda presidencia de Roca –que terminó en 1904- no hubo partidos de fútbol entre argentinos y brasileños. La cita de Susán podría coincidir con uno de 1912, en ocasión de la celebración del aniversario de la independencia brasileña, pero si se trata de ese partido parece que a Roca no le hicieron mucho caso porque el mismo terminó 4 a 0 a favor de los argentinos. Sin embargo, lo que contradice por completo la certeza de lo relatado es que la primera vez que se enfrentaron las selecciones de fútbol de Argentina y Brasil fue el 20 de setiembre de 1914 en Buenos Aires. Los brasileños llegaron al puerto porteño por la mañana, primero fueron a su embajada y luego a la casa de Roca, que moriría un mes después . Más allá de su veracidad, de la anécdota se desprende la importancia que las elites dirigentes argentinas le concedieron al fútbol y a las actuaciones de un equipo nacional desde los primeros años del siglo XX, como representación del país. De acuerdo con la visión, en aquel entonces, de los sectores dominantes “el fútbol puede contribuir a que los pueblos se conozcan” (Soiza Reilly, apud Santoro, 2007 [1971]: 59). Macías, Héctor.
