<p><span style="font-weight:400;">¿Quién fue realmente Raúl Silva Henríquez y por qué su figura sigue siendo recordada en la historia de Chile?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight:400;">El cardenal del pueblo reconstruye la trayectoria del cardenal Raúl Silva Henríquez, desde sus primeros años como sacerdote salesiano hasta su papel como arzobispo de Santiago durante algunos de los períodos de mayor transformación y conflicto social del país.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight:400;">A través de testimonios, archivos históricos y registros de época, el documental recorre su participación en la reforma agraria de la Iglesia, su vínculo con los movimientos sociales, el Concilio Vaticano II y los cambios políticos de los años 60 y comienzos de los 70.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight:400;">La historia adquiere especial relevancia tras el golpe de Estado de 1973, cuando Silva Henríquez impulsó, junto a otras iglesias y comunidades religiosas, el Comité de Cooperación para la Paz en Chile, conocido como Comité Pro Paz, y posteriormente creó la Vicaría de la Solidaridad. Ambas instituciones tuvieron un papel fundamental en la defensa de los derechos humanos y en la protección de personas perseguidas durante la dictadura.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight:400;">Más allá de las posiciones políticas y religiosas, el documental plantea una pregunta que sigue vigente: ¿qué significa no pasar de largo frente al sufrimiento de los demás?</span><span style="font-weight:400;"> </span></p>

Bajo la dirección de Roberto Chile, codirección de Fabiola López, y la música original de Frank Fernández, el documental demuestra que no se pueden hacer grandes hazañas, sin grandes amigos. En la unidad del binomio Chávez - Fidel se unieron dos pueblos, dos naciones, y bajo el ejemplo de fraternidad Cuba – Venezuela, se unió la América toda. Con imágenes inéditas y otras que perduran ya por su valía, narra cómo estos dos hombres revolucionaron la historia, se comprometieron con la justicia, con el ideal de equidad y ofrecieron la vida sin pausas ni pretextos.<br />
